Hello!

This week wasn't too eventful so i'll probably be pretty brief.

We had zone workshops and interviews and it went good. The AP's and Pres and Sister Probst came up to our church building in Bellville, cuz we're doing workshops by district now...so it was us and the Panorama Elders and Paarl Elders. Basically they focused on how to improve our Personal Studies. It was good. Then interviews and what not went good as well. Pres Probst is awesome.

Then friday we had Zone Workshops and we learned about Companionship Studies...how to make them better...basically it wasn't even that great and i'm pretty sure i didnt learn all that much...but it was still fine.

We're having a bit of a problem with Bro Joosta. As he's been having some problems with Smoking and Word of Wisdom problems...we've been trying to help him out so he can overcome it. He's done good so far but we got a call from his wife Saturday morning asking us if we could come visit at 10:30 in the morning. So we got on over there and she basically told us that Bro Joosta has been hanging out with his friends (keep in mind their in their 40's i'd say.) And he's gotten back into drinking as well. Both of his friends are just about going through a divorce and she wanted our help. It was quite the shock because he had been doing so well these past few weeks. Well we didnt really know what we could do for them at that time...but we just talked to them and kind of discussed with Bro Joosta what was most important to him. Basically was drinking more important than his family? He knew the right answer. So we just kind of committed them to talk to eachother and decided what they needed to do. It wasn't the best way to start out the day...quite disappointing. We then just shared a couple of thoughts / scriptures with them...

Yesterday was a good day. It was stake conference for Cape Town. It was nice too cuz it was here in Bellville. Lots of people came out and it was great. We had Pres and Sister Probst talk in it. Also a member of the Area Seventy talk as well. Elder Hill and then his wife spoke also. They talked a lot about just current things that the First Presidency have been pushing...like temple recommends...maybe even getting a temple here in Cape Town in the near future...Shared some great stories...all the usual. But yeah then we had a nice DA with the Louw Family. Talked with them forever and what not...Yeah other than that just trying to keep busy with other families...sorta slow but it's all good.

Still no news for Nam. We were on a mission wide fast for partially that reason...but haven't heard much yet. It'll be interesting to see what happens next transfer when news comes in cuz we'll find out more next week. Anyway...That's about it. Hope all is well!

March 16, 2009

Hey everybody...this week was pretty good...just like most other weeks. We worked with Bro. Joosta...our Bdate canidate...well was. At the moment it's on hold becuase of his smoking still...but we got him the 15 step program like i think i might have told you...and it's going alright. We're hoping things will get back on track for him in the next week so we can have another date for him.
So i'm totally a chef here...well not in our flat and not for our companionship...cuz we never eat at our boarding. We get fed a lot by members, which is great, but we also eat out a lot...which isn't as great...haha. But saturday we went over to the Browns...great family. they have 4 sons and the father is the Elders Q Pres. They invited us over to cook our food for sunday after church. We went and we made Rooties...idunno how to spell it. Basically like tortillas that we made from scratch. We got to eat them yesterday with some curray and it was dang good. Spicey, but good. We get fed lots of hot food down here...but it's good stuff.
O something amazing happened this week...well sorta. A few weeks ago right outside our flat a guy came up to me named William (Villiam) and just talked to me while my comps kept walking up to our flat. He's like mid 20's white guy. I talked to him briefly and i just introduced what we did. He lives/lived at the same complex that we live. He always wondered about us cuz he saw us but never wanted to ask any questions. Well we chatted and i found out he was moving out on saturday, i offered for us to help and saturday came around but we got busy and i guess he got other guys to help him anyway. Well while we talked he said he wanted to meet with us and he was married and his wife was over in Hong Kong or something like that. Well i just had his address but then he moved. All the following week i was thinking about him and thinking how we could find out where he moved or how we could get his number...and then i kinda forgot about it this week. Well to make it short we were at the mall buying some stuff and we were in our whites and we decided to just go to one more store and as we walked in a guy came out, i double checked cuz he looked familiar, he did the same thing, and guess what! it was William. We greeted eachother and what not and talked for a bit. My comps kept walking cuz they had no idea who it was and they just assumed i knew him from Paarl. Well i got his details and he's stoked on us meeting with him. So we're planning on contacting him prob tomorrow to go meet with him and his wife. I think he just wants to learn more about it...idunno if he fully understands why we would come. But it was definitely a blessing to see as i had thought about him so much and figured we would never see him again. Heavenly Father definitely placed him in our path. But yeah i'll keep ya posted and let ya know how it goes this week.
We've decided to do a service project for the community...well at least me and Elder Gouws got this great idea. We're going to build ramps, or boxes or something for the skatepark here in Durbanville. (the skatepark i had said) it's a pretty decent park, just ouside, but some stuff could be better and we want to fix it up and clean it. So we made an announcement yesterday in church asking for old scraps of wood and what not so that people could help us get started. We're pretty stoked about it...well the idea at least...Sounds good eh? O and i learned how to do a pole jam!
President Probst called the other night and let me know that they've met for a 3rd time up in Nam to find out details..but he doesnt quite know for sure yet. It just needs to be approved. It's still that they are just thinking we're going up to steal jobs. It's not us personally...just in general. There are still 5 or 6 waiting to go up. If we dont go up this transfer...since there's only like 2 weeeks left anyway...something will happen for next transfer...he'll just have to figure it out. But yeah things are still going good.
Thanks! Love

March 2, 2009

Well I'm still in Bellville...that's our area that we work but it is quite huge as i had said before...we live in a place called Durbanville...just outside of Bellville and we have members that live all over the place. So we're usually driving around a lot to get to each appointment. Our church building is like 15 minutes away...well maybe 10, but it's still quite far. It's a ward as i think i might have said...Anyway i'll tell you about the week..

We did some good old basketball last monday with the zone...it was pretty chill. Tuesday we did some service washing our Bishops car...he's got this massive van thing. As for missionary work it's been a little bit slow this week..just as a heads up. It's mostly white area and Dutch Reform so people hardly ever let us in their home. And a lot of our appointments fell through so i'll just focus on our other stuff we did...Wednesday we did some more service for the Elder Quorum President uh...babysitting...basically. No we moved some stuff...around. haha. K well i'll just tell what happened on Saturday and friday and what not...it was awesome. O yeah and we get fed A LOT in this place. I'm going to be so fat. But it's nice. O and i jumped on a tramp for a little while this past week. It was awesome. I can still do sweet flips. Saturday we hung out with this Korean Family that came here to learn english..dont ask me why cuz SA is not the place to come to do that. But we chilled with the kids and they were playing this Korean Talk show thingy all in Korean and they'd laugh and we'd sit there cuz we couldnt understand...now i guess i know what Heiner and Alex and them go through over in Japan. But a couple of the kids know Tae Kwon Do and we did forms together and i could almost remember. I told him that we had to spar coming up soon. K then Sunday we went over to the Kruger family again and they taught us out of Preach my Gospel and as soon as i walked into their house i saw this skateboard sitting there...and i was like No WAy, i ran up to it and saw that it was mine that i'd been trying to get from up in Paarl. Pres Kruger is the Branch Pres in Paarl and Elder Power gave him the skate to give to me and so it was like an early Christmas when i walked into their home. It was awesome. So me and Elder Gouws will be going to this little skatepark that we found today and it's cloudy so it's a blessing. I think we're just going to go to the mall and stuff too...and play some Volleyball. O yeah we did that on Friday night too.

K this email is pathetic but i dunno what else i can say. Things are good. Miss you guys! Love
